Children's Adventures in Movement Class Descriptions

Tap (4-6)
Instructor: Noreen Kinohi
This class introduces basic tap vocabulary, steps through rhythm and stylistic movement. Students are encouraged free expression, while building on the basic elements of tap dance technique and highlighting the importance of beats and sound. |

Ballet I (4-6)
Instructor: Megan Haro
Children will be introduced to ballet terms and technique while practicing control and coordination. Students will focus on developing aligned posture, flexibility, strength and grace. This class will serve as preparation for ballet training while in a supporting and fun environment. |

Creative (4-6)
Instructor: Megan Haro
Children discover their own way of learning through creative imagery. Dance activities emphasize the fun and excitement of discovering the world through movement. Children will enjoy the use of music, props, and poetry to develop basic motor and locomotive skills. |

Tap II (7-12)
Instructor: Noreen Kinohi
Dancers learn complex tap rhythm combinations. This class emphasizes rhythm and timing along with combining basic tap steps. Movement and music make this a fun learning experience for young dancers. |

Ballet II (7-12)
Instructor: Melissa Gambino
Dancers focus on development of grace and ballet technique. To create a foundation for dance, students will learn appropriate positions, exercises and combinations for the barre and center floor. Students who are serious about growing as dancers will find this ballet class as a vital step of their training. |

Creative II (7-12)
Instructor: Melissa Gambino
Dancers explore expressive dance work together to create an artistic piece. The classes are designed to stimulate the imagination of young children while they explore movement, individual awareness, and socialization. Students are introduced to skills such as listening, sharing, and working in a group environment. |

Flag (8-14)
Instructor: Megan Haro
An introduction and continuation to the flag as it is used in color guard for band and drum corps. Spinning, tossing, and carving is incorporated, enhanced by dance to create a total body movement. |

Jazz (7-12)
Instructor: Sheeree Dela Pena, Desiree Dela Pena
Dancers strengthen technique through complex jazz combinations. Students will learn the basics of understanding rhythm, movement and style. The class will incorporate proper stretching, dance terminology, combinations, and choreography. |

Hip Hop (7-12)
Instructor: Sheeree Dela Pena, Desiree Dela Pena
Dancers focus on combinations that allow freedom of expression. It is a fun, high-energy class that uses current music and energetic moves. Students will learn the basics of hip-hop dance, as well as, develop learning skills, individual movement and stylistic choreography. |
